Founded by farmers in eastern Switzerland in 1886, Volg now has around 600 Swiss shops, all of which are supplied by Volg Konsumwaren AG, based in Oberwinterthur (ZH). The Volg village shops offer a range of products for daily needs even in the smallest of sales areas.

This is because Volg shops are often meeting places where people still know each other personally. Post agencies are also integrated into many Volg shops so that shopping can be combined with postal transactions.
